Braun Strowman Says He Was In Wisconsin When He Got The Call To Face Goldberg At WrestleMania 36

Braun Strowman didn’t expect to be facing Goldberg at WrestleMania 36. In fact, Strowman wasn’t even in Florida for the tapings.

Strowman replaced Roman Reigns as Goldberg’s opponent for the Universal Championship match at WrestleMania due to Reigns electing to stay home because of the current pandemic. However, the day Strowman got the call that he was needed at the Performance Center in Florida to tape the match, he was actually way off-state. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Strowman said he was actually in Wisconsin when he got the call.

“I was told, ‘There’s been a change, we need you.’ I said, ‘Well, I’m in Wisconsin. How am I getting there?’ Almost before I finished saying that, I was told there was a jet in the air that was landing in a few hours for me,” Strowman said.

Strowman barely had any time to get any food from home before the jet arrived to get him back to Florida. Once Strowman made it to Florida for WrestleMania, it was then when he was told that he was actually going to face Goldberg.

“I was in bed by midnight in Orlando, then at nine the next morning I was at work being told that I was facing Goldberg at WrestleMania for the Universal Championship. All I could think was, ‘Let’s go,’” Strowman said.

Strowman ended up winning the Universal Championship by beating Goldberg in less than two minutes. Since then, Goldberg defended the title against Bray Wyatt, John Morrison and The Miz. Most recently, Strowman engaged Wyatt in a Wyatt Swamp Fight at Extreme Rules.
