Boom Swallen, Grandson Of Brian Pillman, Honored For Reporting Threat Against High School
Boom Swallen is recognized as a hero.
Boom Swallen, the grandson of former WCW and WWE star Brian Pillman, helped prevent a planned attack against Mariemont High School near Cincinnati.
According to FOX 19, Swallen, 14, alerted his dad of the planned attack, and his dad went to the authorities.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers said if Swallen had not come forward, “we’d be talking about a tragedy in our community with a lot of lives lost.”
Zach Swallen says that his son told him that he overheard a classmate talking about carrying out a mass shooting. A 14-year-old student did have a detailed plan, including a hit list, to carry out a mass shooting at Mariemont High School
“He said that he wanted to protect his classmates and that he didn’t care if the kid – if the kid followed through on his threat on his life, but he wanted his classmates to be safe,” Swallen said.
The Uvalde Foundation for Kids will recognize Swallen for coming forward.
“The second someone steps in and says something that makes you a hero, that makes an impact on everyone around you and the things that could occur,” said Rebecca Engle of the Foundation. “Because without that voice and if he would’ve just said, ‘Whatever,’ and not get involved in it, a tragedy could’ve gotten way worse.”
