Booker T Knows Nothing About CM Punk Possibly Joining WWE Backstage

Booker T comments on CM Punk.

On Sept. 26 it was announced that WWE’s new studio show WWE Backstage will debut on Fox Sports 1 on Nov. 5. The show will be hosted by Renee Young and Booker T. The next day it was reported by PWInsider that CM Punk did on-camera testing for the show.

Despite being one of the co-hosts, Booker T knows nothing about Punk’s involvement.

“I know nothing about this, at all,” said Booker on his Hall of Fame podcast when asked about Punk doing on-camera testing. “Me and Punk, we had no beef when he was in WWE. I brought CM Punk down to Reality of Wrestling when he was a young kid. He’s a big star now. I know he’s doing commentary with MMA. For him to step back into the world of professional wrestling, it’s something I never thought I’d see cause he seemed like that guy who, when he stepped away from it, he said, ‘I’m done with professional wrestling and I never want to see a ring again.’ He pretty much went into seclusion and deleted all of his contacts from all of his buddies in the business. Corey Graves was real hot because he deleted him.”

Booker continued, discussing Punk’s potential return to WWE, “I don’t think it can be a bad thing. It could possibly be a good thing. A lot of fans are still chanting ‘CM Punk!’ It’s obvious that a lot of people still love CM Punk and want to support CM Punk. You know if he comes back in some capacity, he might get the itch to get back in there and test [himself]. I was in my best when I was in my 40s. CM Punk is 41. He still has some fumes left in the tank. Can he still come out and give fans that thrill ride? Of course. He’d be welcome back to the business if he was to come back. But I didn’t see him at Fox. I don’t know anything about it.”

Punk recently settled his lawsuit with Cabana and had some not so flattering things to say about his former friend. You can view his comments by clicking here.
