Bobby Lashley Interested In Facing Brock Lesnar In The Fight Pit, Not In A Street Fight
Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley finally clashed at WWE Royal Rumble with Lashley, thanks to some help from Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman, coming out on top.
The careers of Lashley and Lesnar have paralleled in some ways as both men found early success in WWE, ventured into the world of MMA, and eventually returned to WWE and reach new heights.
Speaking to Graham GSM Matthews of Bleacher Report, Lashley said that he doesn’t believe his rivalry with Lesnar is over just yet.
“It was good to get that first match in, but I think there’s so many more matches to go with me and him,” The All Mighty said. “I still think there’s some bad blood that needs to be fought over.”
When asked if he’d like to see Lesnar in a MMA-style match, Lashley said, “Oh, it all interests me. The only thing that doesn’t interest me is a Street Fight. I think what I can do with [my fists] is going to be more brutal than what I can do with a kendo stick or with a table or with a chair. I don’t think we even need that and I think he feels the same way. I think he’d rather suplex me than swing a stick at me.”
WWE has ventured into MMA-style matches in the past, most notably with NXT utilizing the Fight Pit for Riddle vs. Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa vs. Thatcher.
“So many people want to see it that a Fight Pit would be cool. Put on some MMA gloves and get in a cage. I think any one of those things interest me,” said Lashley.
Lashley and Lesnar will see each other again inside the Elimination Chamber as Lashley defends the WWE Title against Lesnar, Austin Theory, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, and Riddle.
