“In a Texas border town, car salesman Charlie (Charlie Clark) moonlights as a masked Lucha libre wrestler going by the name ‘Green Ghost.’ When unknown assailants arrive seeking an otherworldly emerald, Charlie discovers that he has super powers,” says the synopsis. “As he learns to fight from the unconventional Master Gin (action film legend Danny Trejo), Charlie is told that he’s part of a secret warrior “triad of light” with his childhood friend Marco (Kuno Becker) and Marco’s sister Karina (Sofia Pernas) led by La Nana (Renee Victor). Together, they’ve been chosen to protect humanity from Drake (Marko Zaror), the embodiment of the Mayan apocalypse. As a stargate is opened in a Mexican pyramid, Drake seeks the power to destroy humankind — and Charlie, linked to the power of the emerald, is the only one who can stop him. Charlie must harness both his physical and mystical strength to save humanity and go from Gringo to Green Ghost.”

– WWE’s Executive Vice President, Chief Product & Technology Officer Rajan Mehta made Forbes‘ CIO Next List.

When the pandemic shut down the sports and entertainment industry, Rajan Mehta had to grapple with a big challenge. Fans could no longer attend contests organized by WWE, which promotes wrestling matches and shares content via streaming services and with over one billion social media followers. Mehta’s solution: The WWE Thunderdome—an arena at the company’s Florida training facility with state-of-the-art video boards that fans’ faces appeared on during live bouts. That helped WWE hit record revenue of $1.1 billion last year and its tech chief continues to innovate, incorporating augmented reality tech in live broadcasts and supporting the company’s recently announced NFT platform.

– WWE wrestling: More than 125,000 registered for Cardiff tickets (via BBC)

The 74,500 seater Principality Stadium has hosted rugby’s world cup, football’s Champions League and major concerts.

But what one fan calls “pantomime on steroids” is set to offer a totally different form of entertainment.

It will be WWE’s first UK stadium show since 1992.

In the past, wrestling stars such as Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart and Triple H have done battle in the ring- but a whole new clash of the titans could take place in Cardiff. It would see one of WWE’s biggest current stars, Scotland’s Drew McIntyre, take on current world champion boxer Tyson Fury.
