Blackpool Combat Club, With Help From Konosuke Takeshita, Defeat The Elite At AEW Double Or Nothing

BCC stands tall.

Blackpool Combat Club (Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, & Wheeler Yuta) defeated The Elite (Kenny Omega, Hangman Page, & The Young Bucks) in Anarchy in the Arena at AEW Double or Nothing.

Omega had the bout won for his team, getting ready to finish off Yuta with the One Winged Angel. Don Callis came up behind Omega, who felt his presence and dropped Yuta. Konosuke Takeshita wiped out Omega with a knee, leading to Yuta stabbing Omega with the screwdriver and then pinning him with the seatbelt pin.

BCC didn’t fully acknowledge Takeshita after the bout.

BCC were played to the ring by Violent Idles, who sang “Wild Thing.” The band continued to play through the early portion of the match until the Young Bucks delivered a double superkick to the lead singer.

As one would expect in an Anarchy in the Arena match, the bout spilled all over the arena, starting with the fight starting in the crowd as the BCC made their entrance. Claudio and Matt battled into the concession stands and then to the outside. Rick Knox bled. One of the poker chips had barbed wire on the back. There was a screwdiver, a leaf blower, a cable, tacks and more.

At one point in the match, Matt hit an exploding superkick. BCC neutralized the superkick by taking off Matt’s shoe and driving his bare foot into tacks. Matt then got tacks put in his mouth and Claudio hit an uppercut.

The match also featured Kenny Omega paying tribute to Captain America, using a trash can lid as a shield.

This marked the second annual Anarchy in the Arena bout. In 2022, The Jericho Appreciation Society (Chris Jericho, Daniel Garcia, Jake Hager, Angelo Parker, & Matt Menard) defeated The Blackpool Combat Club (Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley), Eddie Kingston, Santana and Ortiz.

The war between BCC and The Elite has been brewing for the better part of 2023 with BCC believing The Elite are amateurs while they are professionals. As part of the war, Moxley defeated Omega in a cage match after Don Callis turned on Omega. Callis had been aligned with Omega for years before joining him in AEW. Callis also recruited Takeshita to help The Elite prior to his turn.

Anarchy in the Arena was made official on the May 17 episode of AEW Dynamite when Hangman Page returned to rejoin The Elite. Page had been sidelined with an eye injury after being stabbed with a screwdriver by Bryan Danielson.
