Blackjack Lanza Passes Away At The Age Of 86

Fightful is sad to report that Jack Lanza, known as Blackjack Lanza, has passed away at the age of 86.

Jim Ross confirmed the news on social media, writing, “Just heard from old Winnipeg friend Bob Holliday that Jack Lanza has passed away at the age of 86. Jack was our lead agent during the Attitude Era. Helluva hand.”

Vince McMahon also posted on social media, writing, “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Jack Lanza. He was a man’s man, respected and beloved by all. He worked for and loved WWE for many years. His loyalty and dedication will never be forgotten.”

Blackjack Lanza teamed with Blackjack Mulligan in the 1970s and the two were managed by Bobby Heenan. The Blackjacks were WWA World Tag Team Champions, two-time NWA American Tag Team Champion, and WWWF Tag Team Champions.

He also teamed with Bobby Duncam. The two held the AWA World Tag Team Championships together.

Lanza, who started his career in 1961, last wrestled in 1985 for the AWA.

Lanza & Mulligan were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006.

On behalf of Fightful, we send our condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Blackjack Lanza.
