BJ Whitmer Indicted On First-Degree Strangulation, Second-Degree Burglary

BJ Whitmer has been indicted on two charges.

BJ Whitmer has been indicted on two charges.

BJ Whitmer, an AEW producer at the time, was arrested by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department in Boone County, Kentucky on June 4, and he was charged with strangulation in the first degree and burglary in the second degree.

AEW then announced that Whitmer had been terminated. The alleged victim subsequently recalled the incident on the news and claimed that Whitmer said he was going to kill her while he was strangling her.

Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reports that Whitmer had a hearing on September 6 arrest in June, and he was indicted on first degree Strangulation and second degree burglary — both class C felonies. Sapp wrote that there is an EPO in place with the victim, and AEW has continued to work with her. There is a pretrial hearing set for October 4.

Whitmer had a prominent run in Ring of Honor, where he was a four-time Tag Team Champion. He had been working in a backstage capacity for AEW since 2019.

Fightful will provide more information as it becomes available.
