Bill Goldberg Appearing At Summerslam Weekend

At the end of May, it was revealed that former WWE and WCW world heavyweight champion Bill Goldberg would be a pre-order bonus character in the new WWE 2K17 video game which comes out in October.

The question many wrestling fans have speculated on was whether the former NFL player would be apart of any WWE related functions due to bitter things said in the past by both parties including a beef with WWE executive Paul Levesque (Triple H) and WWE chairman Vince McMahon. Goldberg felt the McMahon and Levesque had a grand disdain for him and a WWE return wasn’t likely.

PW Insider reported earlier today, Goldberg will be in New York this weekend making his first appearances under the WWE banner since leaving after Wrestlemania 20 in March 2004 to promote WWE 2K17. He is scheduled to be at a media event on Friday. It is unknown at this time if he will be backstage or make a cameo at the NXT show on Saturday night or at WWE Summerslam on Sunday from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

At the end of the pre-order trailer video, Goldberg was in the police car and in the background, you can see the words “Suplex City”, which is part of the catchphrase of Brock Lesnar. Fans got excited of the thought of the two giants having another match after their disaster of a match at the aforementioned Wrestlemania 20.

In a video released earlier today (it has since been taken down by WWE) on the official Brock Lesnar Facebook page, Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman called Goldberg a “supporting player” since “The Beast” is on the cover of the video game. At the end of the video, Lesnar called out Goldberg, saying, “Hey Bill, you’re next”.

Lesnar will be in town as he faces off against Randy Orton at Sunday’s event.

Will be there a confrontation between the former opponents this Sunday at the biggest wrestling event of the summer?
