Big Cass: WWE Did Everything For Me And I Just F***ed Them Over
Big Cass talks about his WWE release.
On June 19, 2018, the wrestling world was stunned when WWE announced that Big Cass had been released from his contract. Cass was coming off a feud with Daniel Bryan and looked to be a focal point on WWE TV for the foreseeable future. However, backstage issues led to his demise. Cass was reportedly intoxicated during a WWE European tour and went off-script in a segment with a little person.
Speaking to Pro Wrestling Sheet, Cass discussed his meeting with Vince McMahon where he was informed of his release.
“We had a long talk. It was a great talk. We had a very very good conversation and we left very amicably. I have no bad things to say about that company. They treated me well. They put me in great spots. They did everything for me and I kinda just f*cked them over. I feel bad about that and I’m disappointed in myself that I let a lot of people down.”
Cass hit rock bottom this past December when he suffered a seizure while working for House of Hardcore. However, he is in a much better place now, cutting out drinking and getting help for his depression and anxiety. With Cass seemingly on the right path, he was asked if the door was open for a WWE return.
“I do think the door is open. It’s just a matter of what I want to do,” said Cass. “It’s tough to say right now [if he’d like to return]. It’s a tough life, man. People don’t realize how tough that lifestyle is. Mentally, right now, I feel like I’m in a good place. I feel like I’m in a very good place to handle that schedule, and to handle that life — that’s where I feel like I’m at right now — but I don’t know what I want to do, man. I’m kinda living life right now keeping my options open. There’s plenty of wrestling out there in the world.”
As of now, Cass is currently a free agent. He and Enzo Amore worked an angle with ROH at G1 Supercard with The Briscoes, but as of now, there has been no follow-up.
