Bianca Belair Stands Tall, Claudio Castagnoli Wins Via Knockout | WWE SD x AEW Recap

Here is your fight size update for WWE Friday Night SmackDown and AEW Rampage on Friday, June 30, 2023.

WWE SmackDown

–  Asuka defended the WWE Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair. Bianca Belair was at ringside for the bout. Flair accidentally kicked Belair. “The EST” snapped and attacked Asuka, and the referee called for the bell. Flair confronted Belair, and they brawled. Belair slammed Asuka, and the former champion stood tall. 

– Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn defeated Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince and Kit Wilson) to retain the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship.

– Thanks to some help from IYO SKY, Bayley defeated Shotzi in a match where her spot in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match was on the line.

– Bayley and IYO SKY celebrated Bayley’s win. Shotzi attacked them, but the Damage CTRL duo gained the upper hand. Bayley then cut off some of Shotzi’s hair

– Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa, and Paul Heyman came to the ring. He stated that he let The Usos say they’re The Ones, but he’s the only one. Reigns said it sucks when family betrays you, but he wants to give The Usos a second chance. He told The Usos to acknowledge him and apologize so they could move on. The Usos interrupted and said they’re past acknowledging. They said that when Reigns loses at WWE Money in the Bank, he’ll be out of The Bloodline. The brothers revealed that Solo Sikoa had their vote to be the next Tribal Chief. Reigns got heated, and The Usos brawled with him and Sikoa. Security tried to separate them as the show came to a close.

– Grayson Waller hosted the Grayson Waller Effect, and Logan Paul was his special guest and discussed WWE Money in the Bank. LA Knight interrupted and traded verbal barbs with Paul. Santos Escobar came down and made it clear that he needs to win the Money in the Bank match. Butch ran to the ring and took the fight to Paul.

– LA Knight faced Santos Escobar and Butch in a Triple Threat Match. Knight argued with Paul at ringside, and Butch ultimately emerged victorious by pinning Escobar. The competitors and Paul brawled as they tried to climb the ladder to unhook the Money in the Bank briefcase, and Butch eventually did just that.

– Ridge Holland told Adam Pearce he wanted a match with Solo Sikoa, and the WWE official gave him one with WWE United States Champion Austin Theory because Sikoa was already busy. Theory scored a hard-fought win over Holland. When he tried to attack Holland after the match, Sheamus came out and made the save. 

– In a promo, Karrion Kross sent a message to AJ Styles. Styles later accepted Karrion Kross’ challenge and teased that Michin could handle Scarlett.

AEW Rampage

– Claudio Castagnoli defeated Komander to retain the ROH World Championship. The two stars battled it out in a hard-fought match until Castagnoli drilled Komander with a European uppercut. The referee called for the bell, as Komander was apparently knocked out, and Claudio was named the winner via stoppage. 

– QT Marshall and Johnny TV took on Matt Hardy and Brother Zay. Some interference from Harley Cameron helped Johnny TV score the win. Ethan Page took the fight to Marshall and Johnny, and when they started to gain the upper hand, Billy Gunn and Anthony Bowens made the save.

– Shawn Spears battled The Blade and scored the win in his home country. Despite some interference from The Butcher, Spears persevered and scored the win.

– Taya Valkyrie clashed with Hikaru Shida. Shida emerged victorious, as she rolled Valkyrie up for the win.

– A video package highlighted the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament matches on the July 1 episode of AEW Collision.

– Harley Cameron shared a victory shot of Johnny TV and QT Marshall winning their match.
