Bianca Belair Calls WWE Debut ‘Challenging’ With No Audience

Bianca Belair was one of the hottest names in NXT when she made a surprise appearance at WrestleMania 36. One night later on Raw, Belair declared that she “goes here now,” indicating a permanent move to the red brand.

What should have been a major moment in Belair’s career was met with unfortunate silence due to the COVID-19 pandemic and WWE running shows in an empty arena.

“It’s been challenging,” Belair told Charlotte Wilder of Fox Sports when asked about performing in front of no audience. “I debuted at WrestleMania and Raw with no crowd. When I found out I was debuting at Raw after WrestleMania, it was something that I was really looking forward to because you can’t ask for a better debut than the Raw after WrestleMania. It was this huge build-up and, okay, now it’s not going to be in front of thousands…but it’s not going to be in front of anybody. It was very challenging but, you just have to make the best of the situation, rely on your talent, and convey through television and not just fans in the crowd. It makes our job more challenging, but when this is all said and done, we have learned so much and it’s made us better performers. Once the audience gets in there, we’ll be so grateful for them and it will be crazy shows once we get the audience back.”

Belair made the save for her husband Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins at WrestleMania 36, kicking off a feud with Zelina Vega and her group of Andrade, Angel Garza, and Austin Theory.

Belair last competed on WWE Raw on April 20. She’s been wrestling on Main Event in recent months.
