Beth Phoenix Doesn’t Rule Out Further Matches After The Royal Rumble
Beth Phoenix physically feels great and is looking forward to getting in the ring alongside her husband at the Royal Rumble.
Beth Phoenix was one of the top stars in the WWE women’s division in the interim between the Total Divas era and the Trish Stratus and Lita era. Retiring in 2012, Beth never stepped into the ring with the women of the Evolution era, now, as she steps back into the ring as part of a mixed tag team match alongside her husband, Edge, against The Miz & Maryse, Beth Phoenix talks to Muscle & Fitness about a potential future in wrestling and why she doesn’t rule anything out.
Beth also revealed that for the first time ever, both of her daughters will be in attendance at a wrestling event to watch her and their father in action.
“Our kids are now of an age, they are 5 and 8, so they can appreciate and understand more of Mom and Dad’s careers,” said Phoenix about one of the motivating factors that keeps them wanting to mix it up in the squared circle. “This will be their first experience at a wrestling show.”
She added, “I never close any doors in wrestling, because I don’t want to be called out as a hypocrite later when it’s like ‘you’ve retired, like, five times!’ So, I feel great, I don’t have any injuries that prevent me from wrestling, I don’t know what the future brings but I do know that this moment … all I can worry about is this moment in time, and if this is my last match, what a way to go out than beside my husband, in front of my kids, you know, in a stadium, and the Royal Rumble is my favorite pay-per-view so it’s got a fairy tale written all over it”
One person who would like a match with Beth Phoenix down the road, if she continues to wrestle, is Becky Lynch. Learn more here.
We will have live coverage of the Royal Rumble event on Saturday, January 29.
