Becky Lynch Wishes She Would Have Tapped Out Ronda Rousey At WrestleMania 35
Becky Lynch made history at WWE WrestleMania 35, defeating Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair in the main event to win the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships.
The bout wasn’t without controversy as Lynch pinned Rousey, though it appeared as if Rousey got her shoulders up. In an interview following the match, Lynch said there was no disputing who won and that she beat Ronda with a wrestling move.
But Becky does have one regret over how the match ended.
“If I could change anything from WrestleMania, I would have tried to freakin’ sink on that arm bar. Make Ronda Rousey tap out for the first time in her life,” Lynch told Sports Illustrated.
Rousey has not been seen on WWE television since the loss to Lynch.
Elsewhere in the interview, the Raw Women’s Champion discussed how main roster storylines were allowed to evolve and were given a personal touch.
“This truly picked up genuine momentum when we got stories that were personal,” said Lynch. “Friendships were on the line, there was betrayal, and I really do think that what we were allowed to do in NXT transformed what we do in WWE now. Being able to have that platform where we could have longer matches, where we could tell engaging stories, and our gender was never a limitation, which it seemed to have been on the main roster. We’ve been constantly breaking through glass ceilings. We’ve been burning down the house, building up new ones, tearing them down, building up a castle, tearing that down, building up a freaking city, tearing that down, building up a whole new planet. Now the possibilities are endless.”
Lynch is involved in a year-long revenge story, looking to collect her debt from Asuka, who defeated her at the 2019 WWE Royal Rumble. She is set to defend her Raw Women’s Championship against Asuka at the WWE Royal Rumble.
