Becky Lynch Says She’ll Have To Come Up With New Goals Now That She’s Main Eventing WrestleMania

Becky Lynch on what it means to main event WrestleMania.

This Sunday, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Ronda Rousey make history when they become the first women to ever headline WrestleMania. While Rousey was immediately thrust into the spotlight upon her debut last year at WrestleMania and Charlotte has always been “the chosen one,” Lynch’s spot at the top of the card was a much more difficult path. Last year, she was in the Women’s Battle Royal on the pre-show and despite strong fan support, appeared to be a middling act going nowhere. But something clicked last summer for Lynch as she went from The Middle to The Man.

Speaking to ESPN, Lynch was asked what main eventing the biggest show of the year means to her.

“It is the most incredible, humbling feeling in the entire world because, on one hand, what happens after you achieve all your life goals? You have to come up with some new ones. Even the fact, everything about this feels so synchronistic and so meant to be. Even the fact that New York was the first state I ever came to when I came to America. Very grateful that this girl that was failing PE at 15, has somehow become the best sports entertainer in the entire world. So much that they couldn’t deny her the main event at WrestleMania.”

As announced last night on Raw, the WrestleMania 35 main event will now be “Winner Takes All” with both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Titles on the line.
