Becky Lynch Says Competing At WrestleMania 36 Reminds Her Of Wrestling In Front Of Seven People
Although Becky Lynch and the rest of the WWE roster are in a unique position heading into this year’s WrestleMania, Lynch isn’t completely unfamiliar with this scenario.
Lynch will be wrestling Shayna Baszler for the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 36, but the show will be taking place at the WWE Performance Center in front of no live fans in attendance. Such an empty environment has never been done for WWE’s biggest show of the year, but Lynch has experience wrestling with nearly no people in attendance.
In fact, Lynch explained wrestling in front of just seven people during an interview with Sporting News.
“Oh, yeah. I remember wrestling in front of seven people, if even. And with Irish people, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but they’re not really shy, right? They’re usually quick-witted with comebacks from things where you can hear all of them when they’re in the crowd. Sometimes just a few people is worse than nobody. I’ve already been through, to wrestling in front of next to nobody,” Lynch said.
Although there won’t be any energy from fans at the WWE Performance Center for WrestleMania, Lynch said she will bring that energy herself and vows to not lose her title to Baszler.
“WrestleMania will be the first time that I wrestle in front of nobody in terms of a WWE audience. I’ll just be bringing that energy, bringing that intensity. And I don’t want to lose my championship. I want to go on over here. I want to be over here being a champion. I want to retire with this thing,” Lynch said.
WrestleMania 36 will take place on April 4 and 5. Fightful will have live coverage of both nights.
