Becky Lynch Didn’t Want To Overplay Nia Jax Busting Her Nose, ‘We’re Constantly Fighting Against That’

Becky Lynch reflects on the moment that helped make her “The Man.”

On the Raw before WWE Survivor Series 2018, Nia Jax punched Becky Lynch in the face, breaking her nose and causing her to miss her scheduled Survivor Series match Ronda Rousey. WWE got a lot of mileage out of the spot, and called back to it during Becky’s recent feud with Nia.

Speaking to Raj Prashad of Uproxx, Becky looked back on the moment and becoming “The Man.”

“Luck is a bit of preparation meeting opportunity. It’s all the work you put in behind it, then there’s something magical. If you look at ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, he only said ‘Austin 3:16 is gonna whoop you’ one time. And it’s the best selling shirt in wrestling history. Sometimes there’s just something that hits,” Lynch said. “That was the same thing that happened with (Nia Jax hitting) my face. You couldn’t have planned it, but it just takes off. And I think the more people are looking for authenticity in wrestling, they’re looking for something that’s real.”

Lynch emphasized momentum building organically and not overplaying things before commenting, “We’re kind of constantly fighting against that and forcing things down people’s throat. We’re getting away from that a little bit now, but I think that’s one of those things where when something becomes magic, we can sometimes have a tendency to overdo it.”

Lynch bested Nia in a Last Woman Standing match on the March 18 episode of WWE Raw.

Lynch’s autobiography “The Man: Not Your Average Average Girl” is available now for purchase. Fans can purchase their copy by clicking here.
