Bear Country Considered Splitting Up Prior To Getting An Opportunity With AEW
Bear Boulder talks about nearly splitting up Bear Country prior to joining AEW.
Tommy Wansaw, better known as Bear Boulder, and Joe Fitz, better known as Bear Bronson, are currently members of the thriving tag team division in AEW.
Before AEW, there wasn’t a major promotion in North America that could provide a strong landing destination for tag team wrestlers as WWE has always had a turbulent relationship with tag team wrestling since the end of the Attitude Era.
The difficulty in finding a secure home as a tag team may be the reason why the team considered splitting up prior to getting an opportunity with AEW as Bear Boulder explains to Nicholson Student Media.
“Me and Joe actually thought about splitting up for a little while,” Wansaw said. “But then when we got the shot at AEW, and after we killed it in our first time there, the fire was literally just back, like that. … The fire reignited in that instant.”
Now that they have their passion back, the next goals according to Bear Boulder are securing the Tag Team Championship and a special clause in his contract.
“A clause in my contract that I need first-class flights … I hate flying on planes because I’m so big!”
Since joining AEW, the tag team has been featured on pay-per-views and even in a match presented by Godzilla vs. Kong on an episode of Dynamite against Jurassic Express.
