Bayley Discusses Comparisons To John Cena While She Was A Babyface
Bayley was one of the purest babyfaces in wrestling during her run in NXT and early run on the main roster.
Bayley was the super fan who made it and formed a connection with the fans that turned her into one of the biggest babyfaces in wrestling. At the time, Bayley drew comparisons to John Cena with some fans believing she could be a babyface on that level.
While working Dr. Beau Hightower, Bayley was asked about comparisons to Cena.
“I used to get that a lot. Not recent because I’ve turned bad. When I was a good guy, I think it meant a lot when I would get it and hearing it from my peers. They were like, ‘you’re one of the most white meat babyfaces and people were genuinely behind (me). They could see no evil in me. That was really cool and I just thought about all the merch money I could make. It’s funny but there is a difference now when you’re a good guy and a bad guy. I think I needed to make the change for myself. Nobody is John Cena. I wouldn’t be able to do what he did for that long,” she said.
Bayley turned heel in 2019, slashing the Bayley Buddies and ditching her trademark ponytail.
Bayley will team with IYO SKY & Dakota Kai and WrestleMania 39 to take on Becky Lynch, Trish Stratus, and Lita. Cena will also be in action, challenging for the WWE United States Championship against Austin Theory.
