Batista Reveals Secret To Having A Great Match With The Undertaker: “Just Do What He Tells You”

During his wrestling career, Batista had headline matches at WrestleMania three times but one of those stands out above the rest.

Appearing on the latest episode of Chris Jericho's podcast, Talk Is Jericho, Batista said that his title match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 23 was his favorite WrestleMania match.

"I really felt like I had come into my own. I didn't feel like anybody carried me through that match," Batista told Jericho. "That was really kind of a personal statement for me because I thought for a lot of reasons we deserved to be the main event in that WrestleMania. Any card that Taker's on, he is the main event. We both thought that we were the main event as well but for some reason, they decided not to go with us. … I really thought we stole the show so I was just really, really proud of that match."

Batista had high praise, overall, of working with The Undertaker. In addition to their clash at WrestleMania, he and The Undertaker faced each other semi-regularly on pay-per-views and WWE TV for several years — not counting house show matches.

"He's fun, he's super easy, he just gets it, man," Batista said. "He's super athletic. It's amazing how big he is and how athletic he is. There's nothing he can't do. He's always just super relaxed. He's been there, he's seen everything. He knows what's gone on. You don't have a care. All you've got to do is go out there and be in it and do what Taker tells you."

Batista's other two headline bouts at WrestleMania actually did go on last — at WrestleMania 21, when he defeated Triple H for the World Heavyweight Title; and at WrestleMania 30, when he battled Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan in a Triple Threat for the WWE World Heavyweight Title.

Batista has made the transition to an acting career in recent years. His latest movie, "Guardians of the Galaxy, vol. 2", is now in theaters.
