Baron Corbin Reveals That He Gets Promo Advice From John Cena And Paul Heyman

Baron Corbin goes to the best when he needs advice on the microphone.

Speaking to The Gorilla Position, Corbin revealed that he gets help from three of the greatest promos of all-time to sharpen his skills.

“Michael Hayes helps me a ton with working on my promos. That was the biggest transition for me coming from football to WWE. You’re always taught not to show emotion. Just be a ‘stone cold guy’ because you don’t want your opponents to see how you’re feeling. I had to break of a habit of years of what I was doing.

“Paul Heyman is continuing to help me grow as a performer with the microphone. He’s one of the best. It’s a really cool experience. I don’t like him much from last year’s SummerSlam, but John Cena. John’s always someone that I speak to. Those are some of the best there are on the microphone. Being able to learn from guys like that is going to benefit me and elongate my career.”

Cena cost Corbin a chance to become WWE Champion last year when he interfered during Corbin’s Money in the Bank cash-in attempt against Jinder Mahal. The two met at SummerSlam ’17, with Cena coming out on top.

On the subject of Heyman, Corbin went into more detail about his relationship with Brock Lesnar’s advocate.

“We talk on the phone. I’m establishing that relationship with him where I can call him and go, ‘Hey man, this is my promo, this is how I feel about it, what do you think?’ I have access to him pretty much 24/7.”

Corbin continued by saying he hopes Heyman is around backstage more often. Heyman had been working backstage as a producer prior to SummerSlam, even when Lesnar wasn’t scheduled to make an appearance.
