Baron Corbin Recalls His First Memory Of WrestleMania And Says He’s Confident That He’ll Be Walking Out Of ‘Fastlane’ As WWE Champion

"The Lone Wolf" is confident that he will be leaving Columbus, OH as the WWE Champion.

The former Mr. Money In The Bank Baron Corbin will be in a 6-man battle royal for the WWE Championship this upcoming Sunday at 'Fastlane'. Corbin will have to best AJ Styles, John Cena, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn & Dolph Ziggler to capture his first major championship in the WWE. Before the big match on Sunday, Corbin spoke with NOLA.com and gave a sneak peek into his strategy heading into the championship bout.

"While guys are worrying about what John Cena and AJ Styles are doing, I can take Sami Zayn's head off and walk out WWE champion. Pretty simple, I think that's a good strategy to have. I'm going to keep my head on a swivel and take opportunities when I see them."

As the rules have been made clear, the champion does not have to be pinned in order for the title to change hands. Although Corbin would love to win by pinning AJ Styles, it would be even sweeter if Corbin could pin the man who put him in position to fail his Money In The Bank cash-in, John Cena.

"I think it would be good retribution." said Corbin, "To see the look on his face knowing his WrestleMania moment just got taken away, his dream of another WrestleMania championship match is taken away. It would make me feel good to know I played a role in taking his little dream."

The man with possibly the biggest target on his back heading into Sunday's multi-man match is the WWE Champion AJ Styles. Corbin and Styles do have a storied history as Corbin has put the "Phenomenal One" down to capture and retain the WWE United States Championship.

"I know I can beat him. SmackDown may be the house that AJ Styles built, but I will own that house. That's my plan. How many people can say they walked into WrestleMania as the WWE Champion? I would like to watch all the people cry that they don't get AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura," he said. "There's a lot of gratification in that."

If Corbin can pull out the win at 'Fastlane', it will be his first of three WrestleMania's where he will walk in as a champion. Corbin would recall another first, which is his first recollection of watching WrestleMania.

"Shawn Michaels vs. Razon Ramon in the Ladder match at WrestleMania 10. It was such an experience. Razor was one of my favorite guys because he had that cool factor."

As noted, AJ Styles will be defending his WWE Championship in a multi-man match against John Cena, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin & Dolph Ziggler this Sunday. We will have full coverage of the 'Fastlane' PPV along with a post-show podcast, right here on Fightful.
