Baron Corbin Admits He Was Arrogant Early In His Career, Says He Thought It Would Be Easy Being A WWE Superstar
"The Lone Wolf" is not afraid to admit that he was a bit cocky when he started in WWE.
After being released twice by the Arizona Cardinals, Baron Corbin decided to try his hand in the pro wrestling world. He signed with the WWE in 2012 and has been with the company since then. Corbin received his start in NXT and he shared with SkySports that his arrogance was checked at the doors of the WWE Performance Center.
"Honestly, I was a little bit arrogant because I came in and thought it was going to be easy and that I'd be on television in a year, no problem. Then you realize how many different things it takes to become a successful superstar, and it really is a rude awakening." Corbin shared, "I thought it would take a year, but it was three and a half years later that I got called up. It is not easy. I didn't realize how much detail went into it all and it was a rude awakening for me and it was humbling."
Competitors in others sports see the weekly television product and think that may be it to being a WWE superstar. Baron Corbin, who was on that other side of the spectrum when it came to understanding the grind that comes with being in the WWE, explained that competitors within the company do not get their due diligence.
"I definitely don't think it does. I would challenge anyone who thinks that what we do isn't taxing on your body. People see what we do and think it would be fun to try but I would challenge anyone to do what we do and show them how physically demanding it is. It deserves a lot more respect," He stated, "The cool thing is that people have come in from UFC or from the NFL thinking that it's going to be easy. It instantly demands respect from them and it's really cool to be a part of seeing the realism of how much this can hurt set in."
The former WWE United States Champion has been announced for the 2018 'Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal' at WrestleMania 34. Corbin has been victorious in the 'Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal' in the past and is surely looking to be the first two-time winner of the match.
