Bandido Wants To Be ROH World Champion But Also Desires To Wrestle For AEW And NJPW In The Future
Bandido is loyal to Ring of Honor right now but says he one day wants to end up in All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
Tonight’s Ring of Honor pay-per-view, 19th Anniversary, will feature Bandido on our number one as the Mexi-Squad challenge for the Ring of Honor Six-Man Tag Team Championship.
In preparation for the event, Bandido spoke to Sports Illustrated where he opened up about his potential future in wrestling when his Ring of Honor contract is finished.
Once upon a time, Bandido was a sought-after commodity by both WWE and AEW. Bandido says he would love to end up in AEW and has fond memories of the All In event in 2018 where he shared the ring with Rey Mysterio.
“The fact that I have not yet reached the highest of the company is the reason I stayed,” Bandido says. “I want to have the heavyweight championship around my waist, and I want my shot against RUSH.”
He continued, “My present is in Ring of Honor, but of course I would love to work [in All Elite Wrestling] some day. I will always remember All In, most of all sharing a dressing room and the same corner with Rey Mysterio. That was a dream come true.”
Bandido also says he considers New Japan Pro-Wrestling a destination for himself.
“New Japan Pro Wrestling is a destination,” says Bandido, who loved the idea of facing the iconic Hiroshi Tanahashi for the NEVER Openweight championship. “I would love to have matches in New Japan. If it is facing a wrestling legend like Hiroshi Tanahashi, then that would be even better.”
The first hour of ROH 19th Anniversary will be presented for free on social media and that will be the hour that Bandido will be in action. Fightful will have live coverage of the event.
