Arn Anderson Says Cops Weren’t Notified Ahead Of Time About His Gas Station Fight With Erik Watts

Arn Anderson recalls the infamous gas station fight in WCW with Erik Watts.

On the January 17, 1993 episode of WCW Worldwide, a segment was featured on the show that featured a staged brawl between Arn Anderson and Erik Watts that happened in a gas station parking lot.

The brawl added a new element to the feud between Anderson and Watts, a feud that some fans were disappointed in at the time.

On the latest edition of his ARN podcast, Arn Anderson recalled that some of the bystanders in the video were legitimate bystanders and didn’t know that the brawl was staged.

“The way it was laid out, I’ll let the cat out of the bag, the whole thing was my idea. The one thing that we blew… Somehow between Doug Dillinger, who was a Charlotte police officer and was there on scene, the little girl and the dad were just legitimate bystanders. They were not smartened up. If you look at the guy trying to pull Erik off of me, he was at a loss. He really didn’t know what to do, he was trying to pull on Erik. He was looking for somebody to come out of the store.”

Anderson then went on to reveal that somebody forgot to notify the cops about the brawl, meaning they thought that the encounter between both men was real.

“Here’s the big [problem]. Somebody forgot to notify the cops. So the cops, and their intervention there, was all legitimate. It just so happened that we were right downtown where the police station was, it didn’t take very long, somebody called them in right away. So by the time it got unraveled later, they were a little pissed that somebody failed to call them and let them know.”

Anderson and Watts clashed in seven different singles bouts throughout their feud in WCW.

Anderson recently commented on having to bite Luchasaurus at AEW Double Or Nothing. Fans can learn more by clicking here.
