Anna Jay Has No Set Date For Her Return, Says Her Shoulder Feels Good But Isn’t ‘Wrestling Normal’

Anna Jay doesn’t have a set timetable for return but she’s hoping to get back sooner rather than later.

Earlier this year in the middle of the AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament, Anna Jay suffered an injury that has kept her on the shelf ever since. Now, she is discussing her road to recovery and her hopes for an early return.

Anna Jay, the sole female member of AEW’s Dark Order, and Tay Conti, her tag team partner, and close friend, were guests on the most recent episode of Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions podcast. This episode happened to be hosted by Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay, the former Billie Kay and Peyton Royce of WWE.

In the interview, Anna explains that she has been told that perhaps the first shoulder surgery she underwent was not 100% successful, leading to the succeeding injury that she suffered earlier this year.

“I ended up tearing my labrum in my shoulder again in training,” Anna Jay recalled. “They think maybe that the first surgery was not 100% well done, and I just tore my labrum and found out. Obviously, I was really bummed out, but I’m hoping, fingers crossed, that this surgery is the charm and I don’t have to worry about this ever again. Unfortunately, injuries are part of what we do…”

She would later add that she doesn’t have an exact timetable for a return to the ring but she is hoping for sooner rather than later.

“I don’t really know. I know everything’s going on track how it should. Of course, the doctors don’t really want to [give a specific target date for return] just because it could change and I don’t really know, but everything’s going as it should. Obviously, I hope sooner than later, but then again, I’m not rushing it, so I don’t really have a timeframe yet, but we’ll see.”

When asked by the former Peyton Royce how long it has been since she had surgery, Anna said that she had surgery back in the middle of March and that she feels pretty much normal but not exactly normal for professional wrestling just yet.

“I had surgery on March 11, so it’s been three months now. I feel really good. Everything feels pretty much normal now but obviously, it’s not. It’s not ‘wrestling normal,’ I guess,” said Anna.

The former IIconics stated at the beginning of the episode that they are hoping to wrestle the tag team of Anna Jay and Tay Conti. Both Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay were released by WWE on Thursday, April 15, 2021. In recent weeks they have trademarked different terms including “The IInspiration.” Learn more here.
