Angelo Dawkins Credits JD Drake For ‘The Silencer’

Angelo Dawkins hasn’t had a singles match with Roman Reigns like Montez Ford and might not get the same publicity as a potential singles talent, but he continues to be praised for his in-ring improvements.

Dawkins has used the spinebuster to damage opponents, but fans have taken notice of his double underhook lifting swinging neckbreaker, which he now uses on the regular.

Speaking to Ryan Satin on Out of Character, Dawkins gave an official name to the move and credited a current AEW talent for helping him with it.

“The Silencer,” he said Dawkins when asked of the moves name. “That’s my baby. I love that move. That’s my favorite move. I have to shoutout my boy for allowing me to use that one; JD (Drake). That’s my boy.”

The connection between Dawkins and Drake started to form in 2018 when the Street Profits had a run in EVOLVE while signed to WWE.

“That’s where I first met him. Going there was probably one of the best things ever for my career. I can’t really speak for Tez, I feel like he feels the same way, but I don’t want to speak for him. For me, at that point in time when we started going to EVOLVE, I was at the PC for so long. To get a different set of voices in my ear was really good for me and ended up helping me progress and keep getting better and ended up starting to move off that. JD was one of the first dudes I linked up with there,” he said.

The Street Profits would win the EVOLVE Tag Team Titles in their first bout. They lost them to The Unwanted (Eddie Kingston & Joe Gacy) in 2019. Dawkins would have a singles bout with Drake for the WWN Championship at EVOLVE 125.

Dawkins and Ford were unsuccessful in challenging for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships at WWE Day 1, losing to RK-Bro (Riddle & Randy Orton). You can find results from WWE Day 1 by clicking here.
