Alicia Fox Discussing Her On-Screen Character: “Vince McMahon Told Me To Just Go Crazy, Tear Things Up”
Alicia provides some insight into her character.
The “Foxy One” Alicia Fox recently returned to WWE television after being out of action nursing a broken tailbone. Alicia was set to be a part of the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble match this past January and she was supposed to be Goldust’s partner in the Mixed Match Challenge tournament but the injury would end up keeping Fox out for several months.
She made her in-ring return at a WWE house show in Philadelphia last month and has since gotten back into the swing of things on WWE television. The former WWE Divas Champion has recently became involved with the RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss which has made Fox a target of Ronda Rousey. Next week on RAW Ronda will have her first match on the red-brand exclusive show against Alicia Fox and ahead of that match Fox spoke with ‘VOID’ and during the interview Alicia spoke about how her outlandish character on television came to be.
“My character, well, she’s I guess kind of sassy. Her thing is like, Ffancy as a fox.’ I’ve developed into this like off the wall, firecracker. The word ‘crazy’ might not capture it. But I came back from injury and turned into a heel. We’ve been reintroducing the character. I’ve been bullying people. It’s really fun to play the bad guy, the coward. I get the crowd riled up, throw drinks at them. It started in one match, where they told me just to throw a fit. Vince [McMahon] told me to just go crazy, tear things up, knock the announcer’s hat off his head, throw iPads in water.” She continued, “So after my match, I didn’t know how it was going to go, but I just did it, and the crowd really reacted. It was this whole mood swing, it really worked. But currently, there’s a lot of great, talented girls. I’m loving working with everyone. Ronda Rousey is on the roster now too which is really cool.”
Alicia Fox has been with WWE for a total of twelve years and is recognized on WWE TV as one of the trailblazers of the women’s revolution. Fox discussed her career during the interview and reflected on some of her proudest moments as a WWE superstar.
“Definitely having such a long career is a great accomplishment in this business.” Fox said. “But being the first African-American Divas Champion, I’m really proud of that. Really though, being a brand ambassador and going around the world, working with the UN and visiting the military. We went to Africa and visited a refugee camp with the UN and met with women who’d witnessed genocide. Being able to come back and share those experiences with friends and family and fans, as a job, has been really rewarding. Lastly, I’m proud of not losing my mind.”
As mentioned, Alicia Fox will be squaring off with Ronda Rousey next week on RAW. To take a look at another match scheduled for this upcoming Monday’s show, click here.
