Alex Abrahantes Recalls Working With The Rock In 2003; Rock Was Adamant They’d Work Together Again
Alex Abrahantes recalls working with The Rock.
Long before he was part of AEW television, Alex Abrahantes was a part of the WWE creative team. Alex was a part of the team back when The Rock was away filming The Scorpion King movie. However, he would get to work with The Rock one day.
Alex Abrahantes recalled on AEW Unrestricted his one and only experience working with The Rock, which came after he was already off the WWE creative team and had come back a year later to say goodbye to everyone. Ryan Gewirtz, who still works with The Rock today in his Seven Bucks Productions company, offered Alex the opportunity to work with the rock during the segment starring The Rock’s Hollywood run in 2003.
Alex would say that The Rock is exactly like the person you see on his Instagram, recalling The Rock even saying that they would work together one day and being adamant that would be the case.
“The Rock is exactly what you see on Instagram. He is such an amazing person and such a one-of-a-kind, amazing human being. I did [Hollywood Rock] segment a year after I left WWE and I came back to say goodbye to everybody. I didn’t get a chance to work with The Rock because he was out doing Scorpion King, so I hadn’t met him. Brian Gewirtz said, ‘You want to do this thing with Rock?’ ‘Yeah!’ I got a chance to hang out with him before we shot it and he was genuinely the nicest human being on Earth. Such a great guy. Doesn’t have to be, he’s a Hollywood star and can dump everything in the pro wrestling business. I remember specifically, and it resonated so much at the end, him thanking me, and he’s like, ‘We’ll work together someday.’ ‘I hope so.’ ‘No, we will.’ He was so adamant about it. Well, I guess that’s something that’s going to happen someday. I still have my fingers crossed because he’s such an amazing human being and I am so happy for everything he’s done and all the success he’s had. he’s a guy you can look at and is a true representation of the American dream. Way to go, Dwayne.”
Although Alex doesn’t hear much of what “The Rock says…” anymore, he is always letting the AEW audience know what “Penta says” as the manager of the Lucha Brothers.
