Alberto Del Rio Gets January 2021 Trial Date For Aggravated Kidnapping Indictment

A trial date for Alberto Del Rio (Jose Alberto Rodriguez Chucuan) for his aggravated kidnapping charge is set.

A report from PWInsider stated that Del Rio will appear in court on Jaunary 25, 2021 following him being charged with sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping, with the latter being listed as the primary charge.

If convicted in the first degree, it could result in a sentence ranging from five to 99 years or life in prison and/or a fine up to $10,000. If the accused can prove they released the alleged victim voluntarily, he could only be convicted of aggravated kidnapping in the second degree, which could result in a prison sentence ranging from two to 20 years and/or a fine up to $10,000.

In the original report, the victim said Del Rio slapped her across the head twice before taking her downstairs and forcing her to put on a dress and dance for him and if she cried, he threatened to take her son and drop him in the middle of the road. He also allegedly became angry when she wouldn’t admit to being unfaithful.

Police said Del Rio tied the woman’s hands with boxing straps, put a sock in her mouth and sexually assaulted her for several hours, using various objects. According to investigators, he also punched her in the back during the assault, causing visible injuries. The victim told detectives she does not remember much after he placed his hand around her throat.

Del Rio has not wrestled since February and last wrestled for IMPACT in 2018 and last competed for WWE in 2014.

Fightful will have more on this story as it continues to develop.
