AJ Styles Wishes He Could Have Waited To Return Following Being Buried In Boneyard Match

AJ Styles was buried alive at WrestleMania 36 in Boneyard match against The Undertaker. But the Phenomenal One was not dead, re-emerging this past Monday on WWE to earn the final spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match.

Not much had changed for Styles since “dying” at WrestleMania. He was not a zombie or a different character. He was AJ Styles. Just alive.

“The return could have been more,” Styles admitted on his Mixer stream. “I’ve heard people talk about ‘they just…wasted it. AJ Styles was buried alive, he could have come back as a different character, a different mood, a different look, something different. He came back and it was exactly the same before he got buried.’ I’m with you. I think the circumstances had a lot to do with AJ Styles coming back when he did. The circumstances, the match, maybe we needed some more star power in the match. I don’t know. I wish we could have waited and had the times been different, that would have been something where we did wait.”

Styles was the final entrant into the Last Chance Gauntlet match on Raw, defeating Humberto Carrillo to earn his spot in the Money in the Bank match. When talking about the ladder match, which takes place at WWE Headquarters, Styles said, “It’s different, trust me.”

As previously reported by Fightful Select, the Money in the Bank ladder match was taped weeks ago at WWE HQ.
