AJ Styles Wants To Finish His Career Without The Need For Major Surgery

AJ Styles wants to maintain his no-surgery record until the end of his career.

AJ Styles is already beginning to maximize his time in the wrestling ring as he enters the next phase in his career where he starts to wind down. Spending the most recent half-decade of his career with WWE, AJ Styles was a journeyman in the decade-plus prior to that.

Spending time in TNA Wrestling as well as New Japan Pro-Wrestling, AJ Styles honed his craft in rings all around the world while playing his part in popularizing the high-risk style that is now the norm.

Despite this high-risk offense that he is known for, AJ Styles has not needed major surgery throughout the course of his career and in a new interview with Sports Illustrated, he says that’s how he wants things to stay until he retires.

“My plan is to finish my career without having a major surgery,” Styles says. “That’s what I would like. Whatever else needs to be done in terms of entertainment, that’s not up to me. I am happy having a job, doing what I do for a living. I’m happy doing that, and I always say, I want to be wherever I’m needed.”

One new development that might allow AJ Styles to continue until the end of his career without major surgery is the addition of the gigantic bodyguard Omos. AJ added Omos to his presentation when he moved over to Monday Night Raw in the 2020 WWE Draft.

AJ Styles says he’s enjoying his time with the big bodyguard and hopes that he is able to pass on whatever knowledge he can in the same way that Kurt Angle passed on knowledge to the young superstars of TNA Wrestling over a decade ago.

“I love working with Omos, and I can’t wait to see what he does next,” Styles says. “All he wants to do is learn. He continues to be a sponge, and there is no limit to what he can accomplish. I want to help him get there.

“Think about a guy like Kurt Angle. People forget that Kurt wasn’t even in WWE that long; he was in TNA longer than he was in WWE. He was one of the best and he got to learn from guys like Undertaker and Shawn Michaels. With Omos, I hope I can give him a little bit of what he needs.”

AJ Styles will be the topic of the next episode of WWE Untold. Coming soon to WWE Network.
