AJ Styles Happy To Be Staying On SmackDown, Unhappy With Internet Spoiler Rumors
When the WWE announced the Superstar Shakeup after WrestleMania 33, rumors began to fly that its main purpose was to get AJ Styles over to RAW from Smackdown after having an incredible run as the top male superstar on the blue brand.
As everyone saw, however, Styles stayed put on Smackdown after the roster turnover which left The Phenomenal One quite happy.
Why was he happy? Well, it's because he likes to see strong rumors be wrong.
"As far as the Shakeup goes, I had no idea what was going on, I heard rumors as well, and I’m glad that they were wrong," Styles said in an interview with Inside The Ropes. "Because, I hate when people know what’s going on in our business, it should be our business to surprise you, not your business for someone else to read on the internet. That actually, upsets me that some people know – whoever it is – in the office of WWE, can’t keep their mouth shut.
"But it’s fun for you guys to speculate and why ‘they need to be on Raw’ or ‘they need to be on SmackDown.’ That’s fun. And to guess, and then to not know- because WWE didn’t know until the last minute who was going where and I have no problem with that, because they (WWE) don’t know, neither does the internet. I think it (had) some surprises and that is a good thing."
Styles also talked about who from the RAW roster that he'd like to take on in a match. Styles said that the world hasn't seen himself and former TNA Wrestling rival Samoa Joe face off in a WWE ring yet, but he'd also like to take on Seth Rollins and Finn Balor as well.
Styles is set to take on Kevin Owens at WWE Backlash for the United States Championship on Sunday, May 21.
