AJ Styles Discusses Reforming The OC And A Potential Feud With Undisputed Era
AJ Styles speaks to Sporting News.
It’s been a few weeks since AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson reformed The Club and re-branded as The OC (The Original Club). The group could be together long-term as all three men recently signed new deals with WWE. Styles re-signing never looked in doubt but Gallows & Anderson reportedly turned down new deals earlier this year before changing their minds and agreeing to new contracts.
In a new interview, Styles discussed the reformation of The Club and Gallows & Anderson being on board.
“Well, that was my plan and that plan wasn’t coming to a point. It was just one of those things that seemed like – we had a couple of guys behind us, helping us convince others that this was a good idea that Anderson and Gallows and myself are back together again,” said Styles in an interview with Sporting News. “There was talk about maybe them going somewhere else, but at the end of the day, it all worked out the way it was supposed to and I can’t be happier. I think what I like about it the most is, again, we know each other so well. We don’t have to talk about what to do next. We already know. We have an idea. We kind of read each other’s minds at this point. How can you not love that? It’s just easy. That’s why I wanted to get back together with those guys so badly and I know the quality of entertainment we’re able to put on together.”
While the trio hasn’t been back together for very long, they’ve already made an impact as Styles captured the United States Title from Ricochet at WWE Extreme Rules. At WWE Raw Reunion, The OC ran into a group of legends collectively known as The Kliq (Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Sean Waltman and Road Dogg), who sent them packing during The OC’s altercation with Seth Rollins.
The OC probably won’t be getting revenge on the hybrid of D-Generation X and the New World Order, but Styles does see one up-and-coming group that he would love to mix it up with.
“Bring [Undispited Era] up! Whatever we gotta do to get eyes on our television, that’s what we need to do. I would love that. I know those guys. I know them very well. So, let’s do this. But it’s got to be timed right. I can’t just be out of nowhere. You want people to come see it, so the timing is everything. You just don’t want to throw it out there.”
The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, & Bobby Fish) are currently running roughshod over NXT.
In a separate interview, Styles discussed the possibility of Finn Balor being added to The OC. You can view his comments by clicking here.
