Aiden English Attacks Rusev On SmackDown Live
The fun is over…
The duo of Rusev and former NXT Tag Team Champion Aiden English developed the mantra “Rusev Day” in 2017 and since then they have captured the attention of wrestling fans all over as whenever and wherever Rusev and Aiden English showed up, the crowd chanted for Rusev Day. Over the past few months there have been a number of incidents on WWE TV involving Rusev and Aiden English and those incidents have resulted in missed opportunities for the both of them.
This past Sunday at WWE’s ‘Hell In A Cell’ PPV, English and Rusev had the opportunity to win the SmackDown Live Tag Team Titles from The New Day but due to miscommunication they fell short. Rusev had yet another chance to fill his month of September with some positive as he challenged Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE United States Championship on tonight’s SmackDown Live.
Prior to the match Aiden English approached Rusev and Lana to apologize for the series of events that transpired during the tag team titles match at ‘Hell In A Cell’ and English was given the cold shoulder by both Rusev and Lana. English then stated to an on-screen producer that he is the reason why “Rusev Day” is even a thing and he followed up on those words and the anger he felt in that moment later in the night
During the U.S. Title match Rusev had Shinsuke Nakamura laid out after delivering a “Machka Kick”. English climbed on the ring apron with a microphone in hand and told Rusev to finish the job. This then led to Rusev being rolled up and pinned for a three count and Shinsuke Nakamura retained his U.S. Championship. After a few moments of Rusev and Lana looking distraught in the ring, Aiden English came from behind and ambushed Rusev as Lana watched from the corner.
