AEW Women’s World Championship Changes Hands On 3/16 AEW Dynamite: St. Patrick’s Day Slam

The AEW Women’s World Championship has changed hands!

In the main event of the St. Patrick’s Day Slam edition of AEW Dynamite, Dr. Britt Baker put her World Title on the line against Thunder Rosa in a Cage Match. Rosa earned the opportunity by defeating Leyla Hirsh last Wednesday to once again become the Number One Contender. This is the second straight year Baker and Rosa have closed the mid-March special, grabbing headlines with last year’s Unsanctioned Lights Out Match.

During the match, both women were busted open as numerous weapons, in addition to the cage, were introduced. Baker came close to ending the match with the Lock Jaw, but Rosa bit Baker’s hand before she could lock it in. Later on, thumbtacks were introduced, and Thunder Rosa was able to hit a Thunder Driver onto them for the pin and win.

Rosa celebrated with the title as confetti rained from the rafters. Dustin Rhodes came to the ring and hugged the new champion as the show went off the air.

Thunder Rosa is now the fifth woman to hold the AEW Women’s World Championship. She ends Baker’s time with the belt after a 290-day reign that began at Double or Nothing 2021 with a win over Hikaru Shida.
