AEW Wardrobe Artist Chris Estell Recalls Being Brought Into AEW, Says Sandra Gray Taught Him So Much
Chris Estell discusses how he got his job with AEW.
Estell is responsible for delivering many sets of gear to various performers in All Elite Wrestling, as he is one of the wardrobe artists for the company.
In recent months, Estell has taken on more responsibility in the company, as lead seamstress Sandra Gray retired back in June.
While appearing on the latest episode of Talk Is Jericho, Estell said that he was brought into the company after Gray saw his work in person.
“I knew this kid, his name is Darian Bengston. I was making gear for the independents and he liked my stuff, so the show [AEW] was coming through Kansas City. I was asked to show up and I shook Sandra’s hand, I had some gear for Fuego Del Sol at the time, I made some new stuff and it was really nice. She liked it and I dropped off my portfolio per say and that Friday, she called me and said we’d love to have you on the road.”
Estell then went on to say that Gray taught him so much during the time that they worked toegther.
“She taught me so much. It was trial by fire for me, and I didn’t expect that. When I got here, I got right to work and I’ve been working ever since.”
