AEW Representative Advances To Interim World Title Match At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

MOX advances.

Jon Moxley officially makes up one-half of the main event of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door as he earned that right by defeating Kyle O’Reilly, the winner of a Casino Battle Royale on the June 8 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Jon Moxley now has the opportunity to carry the World Championship in front of full capacity audiences after the majority of his title reign took place during the thick of the COVID pandemic. In order for Jon Moxley to declare himself interim AEW World Champion, he must first defeat either Hirooki Goto or Hiroshi Tanahashi at Forbidden Door on Sunday, June 26.

We will find out who his opponent will be when the aforementioned NJPW representatives face each other at Dominion on June 12.

CM Punk announced a broken foot injury on the June 3 episode of Rampage. Learn more here. Eventually, whoever is the interim AEW World Champion must face CM Punk in the unification match.
