AEW Power Rankings – Week 22: Cody Kept Away From Tattoo Shops, Inner Circle Dissension

No satire intro this week. I hope everyone is staying safe in light of the coronavirus outbreak. Take the proper safety measures, wash your hands, avoid people if you can, shop online, do what you have do to. Just stay safe.

AEW Power Rankings – Week 22

1. Hangman Page & Dustin Rhodes
Hangman wasn’t happy that Dustin Rhodes stepped up to be his partner. Hangman pushed heavily for his partner to be Jack Daniels, but his request was denied. Hangman told me after the match, “I couldn’t have Jack as my partner, so they gave me someone who aged like Jack.” I don’t drink, so I’m not sure what that means.

2. Cody
Cody picks up an important victory following his loss to MJF. Cody’s mind state was questioned coming out of AEW Revolution and last week when he was given a speech by Jake Roberts. But he proved on Wednesday that he can block out the noise and perform like he always does. The Elite remain concerned about Cody heading into Blood & Guts because they know how much the match means to him and they want to make sure he doesn’t get too emotional like he did before his match against MJF. Cody is being kept away from any tattoo shops in the coming weeks.

3. Nyla Rose & Bea Priestley
Nyla was not happy to be teaming with Bea, who she doesn’t like and who hasn’t been on television in months. She didn’t trust Be a and argued to compete by herself. AEW forced this pairing and while they were victorious, we saw what happened after the match. Nia has filed a protest against AEW for forcing her into the team, saying she’s the champion and she should have been treated with more respect.

4. MJF, The Butcher, & The Blade
The Butcher & The Blade continue to thrive thanks to MJF. I’m told MJF has spared no expense when it comes to the handling of The Butcher & The Blade. He is making sure they get the best training and best care possible. He seems big things in the future for The Butcher & The Blade even if no one else does. MJF is making big power moves behind the scenes and his victory over Cody simply elevated his status.

5. Death Triangle
The trio made a statement with their victory on Wednesday. PAC is said to be very vocal when it comes to the group, taking on a big leadership role. He is impressed with the willingness to learn of Pentagon Jr & Fenix and sees big things in their future.

6. Jake Roberts & Lance Archer
Lance Archer was officially revealed as Jake Roberts’ client on Wednesday. It’s been a partnership that has been in the works for weeks and both men are excited about the future together. Archer is chomping at the bit to get in the ring, but Jake will make sure he’s good and ready before putting him into action.

7. Ortiz
Ortiz isn’t too concerned with the singles loss. He knows he’s better in a tag team, but this does speak to a larger issue in The Inner Circle. Things are not as fine as they seemed at the end of the show. Everyone is worried about the issues between The Elite. But keep your eye on the interactions between The Inner Circle.

8. Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara
Jericho continues to be disappointed with Guevara. He was excited for this match, feeling this was a great chance for Guevara to prove himself against a champion. And he lost. Jericho saw the ending of AEW Dynamite as a way to boost the morale of The Inner Circle, knowing they need to win the advantage next week.

9. Kris Statlander & Hikaru Shida
Statlander and Shida were simply an odd pairing, but took the bout to potentially score a victory over the champion. It didn’t happen.

10. Jurassic Express
Jurassic Express are searching for a head coach, I can exclusively report. Luchasaurus is not working as a player/coach and Jungle Boy and Marko Stunt feel they need someone who can focus simply on coaching helping them reach their potential. They have reached out to Tully Blanchard, but don’t to be associated with Shawn Spears. They have also inquired with Diamond Dallas Page, who is said to be strongly considering their offer.

11. Joey Janela & Private Party
Janela and Private Party went out for drinks after their loss. They are fine. Hangman Page joined them later in the night.
