AEW Files Trademark On ‘Battle Of The Belts’
AEW trademarks the name of an event name from the Florida territory from the mid-1980s.
On January 18, AEW filed for the trademark on “Battle of the Belts” for use in merchandising, including toys, games, and clothing.
The description for the trademark reads:
IC 025. US 022 039. G & S: Bandanas; Hats; Headwear; Pants; Shirts; Shorts; Socks; Sweatshirts; Undergarments; Jackets; T-shirts
As of yet, it is not known what this trademark will be used for regularly. “Battle of the Belts” was used as an event name in the mid-1980s by the National Wrestling Alliance, specifically the Florida territory which was operated by Eddie Graham. The events were shown live in syndication, and all three featured Ric Flair defending the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.
On the first event, he faced Wahoo McDaniel, the second event saw him face Barry Windham, and the third would see him face Lex Luger.
All Elite Wrestling is currently engaged in a working relationship with IMPACT Wrestling and while they’re not actively advertising champion vs. champion matches yet, Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson will defend their IMPACT Tag Team Championship against Private Party at IMPACT No Surrender.
