AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam (9/21) Preview: Championship Card Guarantees History Will Be Made In Queens

It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means! It’s time for AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam!

Tonight, All Elite Wrestling will present one of the most stacked lineups in television wrestling history, AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam 2022.

Every match currently booked for tonight’s card is a championship match featuring a lineup of wrestlers that could, one day, fill a Hall of Fame all on their own. With the guarantee of a brand new World Champion crowned and history to be made regardless of who wins, tonight is sure to be a memorable night of wrestling.

Here’s everything you need to know before tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite on TBS!

Jon Moxley vs. Bryan Danielson 2: World Championship At Stake

Jon Moxley vs. Bryan Danielson 2: World Championship At Stake

Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson are stablemates in the Blackpool Combat Club. However, tonight they will have to do battle to determine the new AEW World Champion. Both men are looking to make history in their own way and will have to go through one another in order to do so.

In the case of Jon Moxley, he’s looking to become the first-ever three-time AEW World Champion. In the past several weeks, Jon Moxley has willingly strapped AEW to his back, and he’s hoping to become a legend tonight, but in order to become a legend, he has to defeat Bryan Danielson, someone he has freely admitted is a much better wrestler.

In the case of Danielson, he has told a unique story en route to Queens, New York. Along the way in this tournament, he defeated Adam Page and Chris Jericho, two men that he has never defeated before. Currently, Jon Moxley also holds a victory over him in AEW and Danielson looks to right that wrong tonight.

Regardless of who wins, Maxwell Jacob Friedman is waiting in the wings, and while Jon Moxley has had no problem getting in the face of MJF, Danielson has yet to interact with Max, which could lead to more history down the line should Danielson come away with the victory.

Who will become AEW World Champion? We will find out tonight!

Strap Me Up, Daddy Ass!

Aside from the situation between CM Punk and The Elite, the most popular topic during the post-All Out media scrum was The Acclaimed’s popularity and connection with the crowd.

Following a star-making performance for Anthony Bowens and Max Caster in Chicago, everyone wanted to know when the acclaimed would get another shot at the titles. Tonight, they’ve got that chance, and while they may be the sentimental favorites with the audience, Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee have made it clear that they’re not about to lay down for the latest flavor of the month.

Can Swerve in our Glory shut down The Acclaimed on the grand stage in New York City or will there be a celebratory scissor party with Daddy Ass as Max Caster and Anthony Bowens get the tag team straps for the first time?

Regardless of the outcome, this is one of the most anticipated matchups of the evening as tag team wrestling takes center stage once again in AEW.

Chris Jericho Goes For ‘The Ocho’ In Queens Against Claudio Castagnoli

Chris Jericho and Claudio Castagnoli have wrestled a handful of times but never on as grand of a stage as this. Claudio will defend his Ring of Honor World Championship against, arguably, his toughest opponent yet in the legendary Chris Jericho. In recent weeks, Chris Jericho has reignited his spark and his love for professional wrestling as he has revisited his past as The Lionheart.

Tonight, Chris Jericho looks to capture his eighth world championship in wrestling, and he looks to capture his first Ring of Honor Championship in a career that has spanned over three decades. Unfortunately for him, Claudio Castagnoli is on a roll.

These masters of the mat will be looking to steal the show on a very stacked card. In the process, one man will definitively walk away as the standard-bearer in Ring of Honor as ROH’s future on television remains to be determined.

Fatal 4-Way Interim Women’s World Championship Bout

Toni Storm, for the first time ever, enters a major North American wrestling card as an incumbent World Champion. Tonight, she has to survive Athena, Serena Deeb, and Britt Baker to walk away with her title. Also, due to the nature of the match, she doesn’t even need to be pinned to lose her gold. Will she be able to overcome the odds or will there be a new interim Women’s World Champion crowned?

Either way, Thunder Rosa is waiting in the wings. You can see an update on her injury recovery at this link.

Orange Cassidy Looks To Become The Champion Of All Of The Atlantic

Orange Cassidy is wrestling PAC. There’s a title on the line. maybe he will win gold for the first time in AEW, or not… Whatever…

This Championship Match card is simply what is announced for tonight’s episode. Tony Khan continues to promise a show like no other in the history of AEW. With there being so much at stake on tonight’s Dynamite card, and a special two-hour episode of Rampage to come this Friday, this is a very special week in the history of AEW, and it all begins tonight inside Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York.

With all of these factors going into tonight’s event, AEW fans are sure to remember the 21st night of September.

Here is the current lineup for AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam on September 21:
