AEW Dynamite 8/5 Viewership Best Since March; NXT Viewership, Ratings Up From Last Week



AEW Dynamite’s viewership soared to its best number in months.

According to Showbuzz Daily, the August 5 episode of Dynamite averaged 901,000, which is up from last week’s 773,000 viewers. This was the first time Dynamite drew more than 900,000 viewers for an episode in months and this was the program’s best viewership number since March 18 when it drew 932,000 viewers.

NXT also managed to increase its viewership, drawing 753,000 viewers this week, which is up from last week’s 707,000 viewers. This was NXT’s best viewership since night two of the Great American Bash on July 8 when that show drew 759,000 viewers.

In the 18-49 demographic, AEW won out with a 0.36 rating, which was higher than last week’s 0.30 rating, and finished fifth on cable for the day. NXT, on the other hand, drew a 0.20 rating in the 18-49 demo, higher than last week’s 0.18 rating and finished 27th best on cable for the day.

AEW also beat NXT in the 18-34 demo (0.29 to 0.11) while NXT won out in the 50+ demo (0.39 to 0.33). AEW was also tied for the third-highest rated show among males in the 18-49 demo across all cable programming for the day, with NBA games on ESPN taking the top two spots in males 18-49.

AEW featured a debate between Chris Jericho and Orange Cassidy, which was moderated by Eric Bischoff. In addition, Matt Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder in WWE, made his AEW in-ring debut and in the main event, Jon Moxley defended the AEW World Championship against Darby Allin.

NXT saw Dakota Kai defeat Rhea Ripley to become the new No. 1 contender to the NXT Women’s Championship with Kai getting her title shot at the upcoming TakeOver XXX show later this month. In the main event Imperium defeated Undisputed ERA to retain the NXT Tag Team Titles and afterwards, Pat McAfee punted Adam Cole.
