AEW Dynamite (8/31) Preview: AEW Hits Chicago For The First Show As Part Of All Out Week

It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means!

Tonight, AEW Dynamite will emanate from Chicago, Illinois, a city the promotion will inhabit for three major shows, culminating with the final major wrestling event of the summer, All Out 2022!

Following one of the most surprising AEW matches to date, Jon Moxley is the Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion, after defeating CM Punk in very quick fashion. With just four days to go before the pay-per-view, it’s not even knowing whether or not Jon Moxley will be featured on AEW All Out.

With Moxley taking to the microphone, a Trios Tournament semifinal match that is very personal for some of the combatants, and the promise of more matches being made for this Sunday’s pay-per-view event, tonight is sure to set the stage for a weekend that won’t be soon forgotten.

Here’s everything you need to know before tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite on TBS!

What Will The Undisputed Champion Have To Say

Jon Moxley proved his dominance over CM Punk last week and officially became the first ever two-time World Heavyweight Champion in AEW history. Tonight, he will address the audience and as of right now, All Out looks to be the first show since Double Or Nothing 2019 without an advertised World Championship match. will someone step up to the plate? Will Jon Moxley demand to be at the pay-per-view as a fighting champion? Is CM Punk hurt? A Chicago audience is sure to get everything they want out of a Jon Moxley appearance but will Jon Moxley get what he wants, another title fight?

United Empire vs. The Elite!

In Trios Tag Team Championship Tournament action, Aussie Open and Will Ospreay go up against The Elite.

Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega have been trading barbs back and forth on social media and other platforms for many years now. Kenny Omega recently told Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp quite a lot about what he thinks of Will, his fixation on 5-star matches, and more. However, WIll Ospreay, who has suffered his own injuries throughout his career has been wrestling more regularly than Kenny Omega who will only be competing in his second match since returning to action after nearly a year.

Personal animosity aside, Matt and Nick Jackson want the Trios Championships so badly and in their Journey to the titles, they have lost friends and gained rekindled relationships along the way. If, by some chance, they are left to carry the load of this match, they will fight their hearts out. Aussie Open want to add more gold that to their stable and will gladly step on the next of the team often considered to be the greatest of their generation in order to make a statement.

Whatever happens tonight, the winners will punch their ticket to All Out where they will have a chance to make history.

The American Dragon vs.The Rock Hard All-American American

With 96 hours to go before he faces “Lionheart” Chris Jericho at All Out, Bryan Danielson will face a familiar foe in Jake Hager. Hager, Chris Jericho’s person heavy will look to not only soften up Danielson but prove his own wrestling superiority against the man that considers himself the best in the world. Just how far will Chris Jericho be from ringside during this match and will Daniel Garcia, who is currently conflicted about his own future, make his presence felt at all?

Tonight, we find out!

Women’s Tag Team Action Ahead Of An Unprecedented Interim Women’s World Title Opportunity

With Thunder Rosa sidelined, an interim AEW Women’s World Champion will be crowned the Sunday. Before then, the participants in the Fatal 4-Way Match to crown the champion will meet in tag team action. Three of the four men, Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter, and Hikaru Shida now have an unexpected chance to become champion. Meanwhile, Toni Storm, has to contend with three extra opponents en-route to title glory.

Which women will get the advantage going into Sunday? We will find out tonight.

That is everything that has been officially announced for tonight’s card. However, with four days to go before the big event, Darby Allin has promised that he and Sting will have a match on Sunday and it will be announced tonight. Also, a Casino Ladder Match looms in the distance with no announced participants as of yet. Athena knows she gets her match with Jade Cargill this Sunday, and much more is sure to go down.
