AEW Dynamite (8/24) Results: CM Punk vs. Jon Moxley To Crown An Undisputed Champion

AEW Dynamite (8/24)

 

  • AEW Undisputed World Championship: Jon Moxley (c) vs. CM Punk (c)
  • AEW World Trios Championship Quarterfinal: Death Triangle (PAC, Penta Oscuro & Rey Fenix) vs. United Empire (Will Ospreay, Kyle Fletcher, and Mark Davis)
  • We hear from Ricky Starks
  • Billy Gunn vs Colten Gunn
  • Dax Harwood vs. Jay Lethal
  • Britt Baker vs. KiLynn King
  • Jericho & Garcia face-to-face

– Chris Jericho kicks off the show and calls out Daniel Garcia. they come face-to-face and Garcia tells Jericho he ruined his moment last week with Danielson. Jericho tells Garcia that he will have more moments like that because he is the best sports entertainer in the world. Garcia struggles. Danielson comes out. he tells Garcia that it’s okay and he can be whatever he wants but he believes that Garcia is a wrestler.

Garcia ends up shoving Jericho to the ground and refusing to make a decision. Chris Jericho says that he’s a better wrestler than Danielson. Danielson says he wants to wrestle Chris Jericho. Chris Jericho challenges Danielson to meet him at AEW All Out before Jake Hager blindsides Danielson. 

Dax Harwood vs. Jay Lethal

Both men went back and forth. They traded submission holds with Harwood trying to utilize the Sharpshooter for the victory. Unfortunately, Sonjay Dutt got involved, allowing for Jay Lethal to get a roll-up Victory, holding the tights for extra leverage.

Winner: Jay Lethal by pinfall

– After the match, Dutt revealed that Jay Lethal will be teaming with two men he knows very well from his days in TNA Wrestling, the Motor City Machine Guns, Alex Shelly and Chris Sabin.

– Thunder Rosa announced that she is injured and will need to step away. An interim Women’s World  Champion will be crowned at All Out.

Billy Gunn vs. Colten Gunn

Thanks to some interference by Stokely Hathaway, Colten Gunn was able to hit Colt 45 on his father for the victory. After the match, The Gunn Club officially accepted the business cards of Stokely Hathaway. They continued beating up their father and then, Billy was saved by The Acclaimed, before they all had to be saved by the tag team champions, Swerve In Our Glory.

Winner: Colten Gunn by pinfall

Britt Baker vs. KiLynn King

–  It was announced that The Acclaimed would be getting a tag team title match at All Out.In the end, Britt Baker hit a curb stomp and the lock jaw for the victory. Afterwards, she hyped her involvement in the AEW Women’s World Championship match at AEW All Out. She called out Toni Storm, who is blindsided by Jamie Hayter, the third competitor in the match. Eventually, she would be saved by the fourth competitor in the match, Hikaru Shida

Winner: Britt Baker by pinfall

AEW Undisputed World Championship: Jon Moxley (c) vs. CM Punk (c)

Early on, CM Punk went for a roundhouse kick and apparently injured his leg, Jon Moxley went on the attack and quickly one with the Paradigm Shift. After the match, CM Punk was helped out of the ring. 

Winner: Jon Moxley by pinfall

– Christian Cage cut a promo and accepts Jungle Boy’s challenge for an All Out match

– Ricky Starks cut an emotional promo about the betrayal of Will Hobbs. challenging him to a match at AEW All Out. 

– Jon Moxley cut a promo saying that his time is now.

AEW World Trios Championship Quarterfinal: Death Triangle (PAC, Penta Oscuro & Rey Fenix) vs. United Empire (Will Ospreay, Kyle Fletcher, and Mark Davis)

PAC was in control, heading a moonsault to the outside before being distracted by whom he thought was Kip Sabian in the crowd. As it turns out, Kip Sabian was behind him, dropping him and allowing United Empire to hit a Triple Elbow, followed by an OsCutter on Rey Fenix for the victory. Afterward, United Empire was confronted by Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks whom they will face next week.

Winner: United Empire by pinfall.
