AEW Dynamite (5/10/23) Preview: A Cage Match, No DQ Brawl, Two Title Matches, And More In Detroit
It’s Wednesday, May 10, 2023, and you know what that means!
It’s time to break down the May 10 episode of AEW Dynamite on TBS.
This episode will feature Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega competing inside a steel cage, a No Holds Barred women’s match, a Double Jeopardy match featuring two Ring of Honor champions, the latest Orange Cassidy defense of the AEW International Title, and much more.
Here’s everything you need to know before the latest AEW Dynamite on TBS.
Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega Step Inside A Cage
In an attempt to settle a one-on-one rivalry that dates back to the very beginning of AEW, Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega will compete in only the fourth one-on-one Steel Cage Match in AEW history. The cage is intended to keep out members of The Elite and The Blackpool Combat Club as tensions boil over and give way to violence.
On paper, Moxley would have the advantage in such a brutal match type, but you can never count out The Cleaner. Blood is almost inevitable as Detroit, a wrestling hotbed dating back several decades, gets treated to another highly-anticipated main event in wrestling history.
Orange Cassidy Defends Against Daniel Garcia
Orange Cassidy is determined to run himself into the ground to become the most fighting champion in AEW history. On May 10, he goes against Daniel Garcia of the Jericho Appreciation Society. If anyone is going to take advantage of the injuries that Cassidy has accumulated over the last 20 title defenses, it will likely be the protege of Jericho. Garcia is also looking to get his first taste of AEW gold, as while he has been ROH Pure Champion, the proud sports Entertainer has yet to hold any championship titles in All Elite Wrestling.
Open House Rules
Trent Berretta & Chuck Taylor will join Bandido as they become the first trio to step up to The House of Black under “Open House Rules.” With a relaxed approach to disqualifications, a 20-count on the ring floor, and more, Malakai Black and company are looking to leave their mark on AEW’s Trios divisions and scar up their opponents along the way. Best Friends and Bandido, on the other hand, are looking to become champions in AEW for the first time ever, and they are determined to prove that the house doesn’t always win.
Double Jeopardy
In what is certain to be an athletic spectacle, Claudio Castagnoli, current Ring of Honor World Champion, will face one-half of the current Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions, Rey Fenix, in what has been dubbed a “Double Jeopardy” Match.
Both men have agreed that whoever wins will get an opportunity to challenge for the other’s championship. Claudio is no stranger to the Ring of Honor Tag Team Championship, but Fenix would love to become a singles World Champion for a major North American promotion. On May 10, he gets the opportunity to earn his chance.
No Holds Barred
Anna Jay AS and Julia Hart have been antagonizing one another for several weeks, with Julia even spraying Anna with the poison mist.
On May 10, their rivalry will come to a head in a No Holds Barred bout. Anna has become somewhat of a veteran in these women’s No DQ matchups, but the House of Black’s leading lady will get to show just how vicious she has become in a match with no rules. Whether or not this will be the end of the rivalry or just a first chapter remains to be seen, but the women get an opportunity to make a name for themselves in Detroit.
In addition to all of this, Chris Jericho is slated to address Adam Cole, FTR is slated to address the challenge of Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal, and Christian Cage will further detail his desire to become AEW TNT Champion.
Detroit, Michigan is in for a special show as Tony Khan has promised a pay-per-view-level event on cable television.
