AEW Dynamite (3/16) Preview: Steel Cage Showdown In San Antonio

It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means.

All Elite Wrestling invades San Antonio, Texas for St. Patrick’s Day Slam tonight on AEW Dynamite. Two Championships will be at stake, Adam Cole looks to get back on track, and much more.

Here’s everything you need to know before tonight.

Baker and Rosa Will Make History Again

Last year at this very same event, Thunder Rosa and Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D, made history when they became the first women to ever headline an episode of Dynamite with their bloody unsanctioned match. This year, they will make history again as they become the first woman to ever compete in a Steel Cage Match in AEW and in the long and storied history of professional wrestling on TBS.

Thunder Rosa is looking to make history in front of her hometown crowd and the good doctor is looking to play spoiler. Either way, history will be made.

Wardlow Reaches for the Sky

In a match for the TNT Championship, The only winners in the history of the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match, Wardlow and Scorpio Sky, will go one-on-one. Sky, after being undefeated for a year, defeated Sammy Guevara for the championship with a little help from American Top Team, in particular Paige VanZant, and is now facing his biggest challenge yet.

Wardlow has officially announced his intentions to break free from Maxwell Jacob Friedman and capture the gold against Scorpio Sky. Maxwell had said two weeks ago that if Wardlow wins the title, he will let him keep it despite a clause in Wardlow’s contract with Maxwell Jacob Friedman that should he win any title, it must be given to Max, but given recent developments, it remains to be seen whether or not Maxwell will stay true to his word.

Danielson and Moxley Look to Beat the Friendship out of Wheeler Yuta and Chuck Taylor

Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley are on the same page and they have William Regal in their corner. When Bryan Danielson proposed this pairing, he singled out Wheeler Yuta and said that there is no reason that a young talent should be paling around with Best Friends and Orange Cassidy. Now, they will stand across the ring from Wheeler Yuta who will be partnered with Chuck Taylor.

Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley will bring their brand of violence to Best Friends as William Regal watches on.

Six-Man Tag Team Match With Title Implications

Adam Cole is not satisfied taking a loss to Adam Page lying down. Instead, Adam Cole will once again pair up with his former Undisputed ERA brethren, Kyle O’Reilly, and Bobby Fish to take on Adam Page and Jurassic Express.

Adam Cole wanted to team with The young box but they once again refused to face Hangman as the story of the former Elite continues to be filled with strong emotions and confusing allegiances.

For Bobby and Kyle, this is a chance for them to prove that they can be Tag Team Champions but surely, Jurassic Express will not make the task easy.

Society Is Dead. Long Live Society.

Last week, Chris Jericho ended the Inner Circle faction once and for all and declared the Jericho appreciation Society was now where his allegiance lay. Still paired with Jake Hager, Chris Jericho has now taken 2point0 and Daniel Garcia into the fold, and on tonight’s episode, we will see the official commencement of the Jericho Appreciation Society.

Eddie Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz may not allow the commencement ceremony to go off without a hitch if there is anything they have to say about it.

So far, this is everything that is announced for the show. That does not even factor in the debut of Jeff Hardy last week, CM Punk is still waiting to make his next move, Keith Lee, Swerve, and more are all waiting to make their next move as AEW continues to grow and evolve.
