AEW Dynamite 12/16/2020 Results: Kenny Omega vs. Joey Janela No DQ Match, Sting Appearance, + more

Jim Ross welcomes the viewers to Daily’s Place; they are broadcasting live in Jacksonville, Florida. Tony Schiavone and Excalibur join Jim Ross for tonight’s play-by-play. They begin the show by going over tonight’s card.
Adam Page, John Silver, and Alex Reynolds vs. The Hardy Party (Matt Hardy & Private Party)
The match begins with Adam Page and Marq Queen the match begins with Page getting the upper hand, but they reverse each other’s moves, but they end up staring at each other. Queen tags in Matt Hardy and Hardy and Queen double team Page in the corner. All six men get in the ring and begin battling it out. Isiah Kassidy is the legal man, and Page gets some strikes in after tagging in John Silver; Page still hits a shooting star press on Kassidy. Silver is controlling the match, but Kassidy avoids a clothesline attempt and tags. Queen and King double-team on Silver strikes; Hardy now comes in and throws about ten punches on Silver in the corner. Hardy now throws Silver into the ropes and has Silver in a sleeper-hold, but Silver gets out of it. Silver hits a Brainbuster on Hardy after Hardy showboated. Silver makes the hot tag, and Page is in. Page controls the tempos and does a dive outside the ring, and it lands, and he knocks Hardy down. Page hits a massive clothesline on Kassidy. Alex Reynolds is now in, and he hits a rolling back elbow and then hits a suplex on Kassidy. Hardy is outside the ring down. Page hits Kassidy with a pop-up powerbomb; Hardy pulled John Silver out of the ring when he tried pinning Kassidy, so only a two count. Reynolds is the legal man, Private Party hits the Gin & Juice, and then Hardy tagged himself in, and Hardy pins Reynolds.
Winners: Hardy Party
– Inner Circle does a promo, and MJF praises Jericho, and Jericho is somewhat surprised that MJF praised him and The Inner Circle.
– Before coming back, a promo begins with Cody and Brandi Rhodes decorating their Christmas tree. The doorbell rings and Christmas Present is left at the door. He opens it, and it is an announcement that she and Rhodes are expecting. Brandi announces she is pregnant.
Cody Rhodes w/Arn Anderson vs. Angelico w/Jack Evans
Before the bell, Arn Anderson is giving Cody Rhodes instructions. The match begins, and they tie up, Angelico gets in control, and Cody looks surprised. They tie up again, but Cody gets the upper hand and has Angelico in a wrist lock. They continue to lock up every time that they separate. They tie up again, Cody gets the upper hand with another wristlock, Angelico takes down Cody. Cody is getting frustrated with Angelico. Both men begin shoving each other in the face, and then both men run the ropes missing each other; Rhodes comes out on top with a dropkick. They go to commercials, but they are picture-in-picture; when the commercials begin, Arn Anderson and Jack Evans get close to each other but no strikes or go back to their corners. We are back; Cody is still frustrated and picks up the pace. Cody nails Angelico with a power slam. Angelico recovers and gets Rhodes in a submission, but Rhodes reaches the belt with his teeth. Angelico is very cocky, and Cody takes advantage with a knee strike; and Angelico puts Cody in the Navarro Death Roll, but Cody reaches the ropes. They continue t battle, but Cody gets the upper hand and hits the Cody Cutter, and follows it up with the win.
Winner: Cody Rhodes
After the match ends, Team Taz comes out and cuts a promo. They show Darby Allin sitting in the seats by himself. Taz congratulates them on the birth announcement. They begin taking shots at Cody and Darby, and they tell Rhodes he could be going on maternity leave, but Sting appears. Team Taz members have to hold back Powerhouse Hobbs. Sting comes out, and things calm down. He winks at Cody, and Team Taz leaves; they go to commercial.
– We are back, and Alex Marvez is with Miro and announces that AEW Management was fined $75,000. He also announced that he would face Sonny Kiss on AEW Dark. He says that he and Sabian will have a major announcement.
– Eddie Kingston now comes out to cut a promo. Kingston tells the fans he doesn’t care for any of them. He then talks about hurting Pac and how he has a neck injury. Then he brings up Lance Archer’s name, and Archer runs out, and they start fighting. Butcher and the Blade come in and attack. Then shortly after Fenix and Pentagon are in the ring, Pac appears to all begin fighting. Fenix hits the Tornado on Butcher and Blade. Kingston leaves with his guys, and Pac, Lucha Bros., and Archer stand tall.
– They go to Dasha, and she is interviewing Dustin Rhodes; he begins saying that Seven was a bad idea. He challenges Uno for Holiday Bash.
The Best Friends, Top Flight, and Varsity Blondes vs. The Inner Circle
Orange Cassidy joins the commentary table, but his headset is not plugged in. The match begins with Chris Jericho and Brian Pillman. Jericho has a big smile on his face, they lock up, and Pillman gets the upper hand. Jericho is not happy and slaps Pillman Jr. hard. Jericho loses control, and Pillman begins with some chops. Pillman gets Jericho out of the ring, and while he recovers, Pillman goes after him, but Jericho takes his time. When Jericho gets in the ring and Pillman tags Griff Garrison too. Griff does not get much offensive, and Jericho is punishing Garrison with some attacks in the corner. Jericho is still in the ring and has been in the match the entire time but can finally tag Sammy Guevara. Garrison tags in Darius Martin and Martin gets in the ring, and Guevara flips him the bird and starts going at it. Darius and Sammy are going back and forth with strikes, and Darius tags his brother Dante and Dante drops Sammy with a big right hand. Dante tags in Trent Barreta and gets in Ortiz’s face, and then everyone gets in the ring and starts fighting each other. The Best Friends and their teammates clear the ring, and then all six celebrate by hugging.
They now go to a picture-in-picture commercial; Jericho controls the match and gets some kicks in on Baretta. Jericho tags in Guevara, Guevara goes for a Shooting Star Press, but he misses, and Baretta gets the hot tag in and tags in Darius. Darius hits the Standing Spanish Fly. Dante tags his brother for a blind tag, hits a high spot move, and nails two of the Inner Circle members. Griff Garrison is now the legal man, and Jericho hits him with the bat when the ref wasn’t paying attention. Hager is in, and he hits Garrison with the F10, and MJF asks Hager to tag him in, and Hager obliges, and MJF gets in the ring and tags him in. MJF pins Garrison, and The Inner Circle wins.
Winners: The Inner Circle
– After that match, they go to Marvez and Thunder Rosa; she cuts a promo and is yelling about Britt Baker and how Britt says she doesn’t belong in AEW. Rebel shows up, and she gets in front of Rebel, and Britt Baker attacks Rosa from behind.
SCU vs. The Acclaimed
Before the match, both teams rap and insult each other. The match begins with Anthony Bowens, and Frankie Kazarian starts the match. Kazarian has the upper hand on Bowens. Kazarian starts with a hip toss on Bowens. Kazarian tags in Christopher Daniels, and they double team Bowens and then Daniels slams Bowens. Daniels takes his eyes off for a second, and Bowens makes the tag. Max Caster is now in and takes down Daniels quickly with an elbow. He controls the match, but Daniels soon tags in Kazarian, and now he and Kazarian are double-teaming Caster. Daniels gets some strikes in before knocking Caster out of the ring. Daniels hits the Blue Thunder Bomb on Bowens, but Owens kicks out at two. Daniels hits a crossbody from the top rope but only a two count. Caster hits Daniels with the boombox, and Bowens takes advantage and slams Daniels and then pins Daniels for the win.
Winners: The Acclaimed
After the match, The Acclaimed start rapping again and take shots at The Young Bucks, and then they challenge them for next week’s Dynamite.
They now go to Dasha with Air Flight, and they talk about MJF and Chris Jericho and how they might not know their names, but they will challenge Jericho and MJF next week.
Big Swole & Serena Deeb vs. Diamante & Ivelisse
The match begins with Serena Deeb and Ivelisse begin the match, and Deeb takes control and gets some hard shots in, and then Deeb tags in Big Swole and Swole is in. Ivelisse tags in Diamante, and Diamante hits a German Suplex on Swole. Diamante now goes for the pin but only gets the one count. They have a commercial break, and Deeb and Ivelisse are both in, and Deeb is in control. Deeb hits a nasty gut-buster on Ivelisse, and then Deeb has her in the Figure Four, but she rolls over and tags in Diamante. Swole is in and hits the Tiger Driver and has Diamante in the Cloverleaf and Diamante taps out.
Winner: Big Swole & Serena Deeb
– After the match, Nyla Rose attacks Serena Deeb; Ivelisse and Diamante start attacking Big Swole. Red Velvet makes the save and hits Rose with a chair, and clears the ring.
– They go to The Best Friends with Orange Cassidy and they say that they will be at Kip’s wedding next week.
– FTR is at the commentary table, and they are asking if Tag-Team Wrestling matters anymore. They don’t understand why Jurassic Express is getting all the attention. Tully Blanchard is with them, and he says that AEW is taking money away from him. FTR and Blanchard said they would be doing something about it, and they walk away.

Joey Janela w/Sonny Kiss vs. Kenny Omega w/Don Callis
The match begins with Joey Janela throwing a trash can at Kenny Omega, Omega is out of the ring, and the bell rings. Don Callis walks over and tells Tony Schiavone to give him the headset, and Schiavone tells him, no, and he leaves. They go back to the action and hits the Kotaro Krusher on Janela on the chair. Omega is completely in-charge of the match. Don Callis is doing commentary with a microphone, and he hands it over to Omega, and he grabs a trash lid and hits Jenela right in the back. Omega is on the top rope and does a moonsault while using the trash can. Omega still controls the match and just punishing Janela with the lid of the trash can. Omega goes for the One-Winged Angel; Janela reverses it with a hurricanrana. Janela, while getting assisted by Sonny Kiss, now has a table set up outside the ring. Janela has Omega on the table, and now he gets back in the ring and gets on the top turnbuckle and does a leg drop onto Janela. Callis has now stopped doing commentary and is concerned about Omega. Janela rolls Omega back in the ring; Janela gets on the top turnbuckle and goes for a moonsault, Omega moves, and then Omega hits two V-Triggers and now picks Janela up and finishes with the One-Winged Angel and pins Janela.
Winner: Kenny Omega
Don Callis starts talking about how nobody should ask them any more questions about Omega. Pac interrupts and comes out with The Lucha Bros. Pac says he has some unfinished business, but he says that Rey Fenix never lost to Omega from a past match. Callis interrupts and says, “when did you become an executive? You weren’t around when Kenny and I were making history.” Omega and Callis start celebrating, and Pac said that he talked to Tony Khan, and a match has been sanctioned for December 30th. He says Omega will be defending the title against Fenix.
