AEW Confirms Weekly Show Will Air On ITV; Cody Says “WWE’s UK TV Deal Sucks Compared To Ours”
Another worst kept secret in AEW is out.
During Thursday’s “An Evening With Cody & The Young Bucks” stage show at Starrcast II, Cody Rhodes casually announced that All Elite Wrestling will air on ITV in the UK beginning in the fall. Cody also stated that “WWE’s TV deal in the UK sucks compared to ours.” The weekly show will likely air on ITV 4, which will air the Buy-In pre-show ahead of AEW Double or Nothing on Saturday.
ITV 4 is available in nearly 27 million homes while BT Sport, which will be the new home of WWE in the UK, is in 2.19 million homes.
Cody is just the latest to mention AEW airing on ITV. AEW President Tony Khan mentioned the deal during his interview with Jack Whitehall.
“What we’ve got right now in the US and the UK is phenomenal, because it’s been so long since anybody’s had the distribution…nobody’s had the distribution we have. To have partners like TNT and ITV, at the same time, it’s the best distribution any wrestling company, bar none has ever had. That’s what we have on our side right now.”
Chris Jericho also dropped the news that AEW will air on ITV this fall as the latest description for his podcast reads, “AEW’s inaugural event, “Double Or Nothing” is this Saturday in Las Vegas! Chris breaks down the card and the events leading up to this historic show, and shares what it means for his career, the WWE, and the wrestling industry as a whole. He explains the origins and development of his new finishing move, The Judas Effect (and what Dave Bautista has to do with it), and what fans can expect as AEW grows and makes it way to TV via TNT and ITV this Fall! He also has a very pointed and personal message for Kenny Omega.”
AEW on ITV has not been officially announced as ITV is reportedly waiting on TNT to decide which day AEW’s weekly television show will air.
During the Starrcast II stage show, Cody and the Bucks also stated AEW will be running a show in the UK at some point.
