AEW Announces Women’s Championship Eliminator Tournament
AEW will crown a new Women’s Title Number One Contender through a tournament.
On Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite it was announced an AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament would be “coming soon.” A bracket was shown that would indicate 16 women will be in the tournament, but that has not been confirmed and details regarding a start date or competitors were not announced.
The winner of the tournament would face Hikaru Shida, the reigning AEW Women’s Champion. Shida has been the champion since AEW Double or Nothing 2020 when she defeated Nyla Rose. She has made six successful defenses of the title, including a recent victory over Abadon at AEW New Year’s Smash night two.

AEW crowned its first-ever Women’s World Champion via a tournament, which was won by Riho. The idea for the original tournament came from the mind of Kenny Omega.
