Adam Copeland Says He’s Told Darby Allin To ‘Chill Out’, Understands Why He Doesn’t
Adam Copeland talks Darby Allin and his desire to continue doing high spots.
Adam Copeland understands why Darby Allin chooses not to slow down.
Darby has made a career off committing to high danger spots, jumping off huge ladders and taking back bumps on steel steps to name just two. Allin has translated these spots into an intense following from wrestling fans, with children often seen dressed as the former TNT champion at AEW events.
One issue with this style is that it will heavily affect Darby’s body, as the bumps he takes have very little margin for error. That being said, he has avoided any major injuries throughout his career despite his risk taking nature.
While speaking to Adrian Hernandez, recent AEW signee Adam Copeland discussed Allin’s high risk attitude, noting that while he has told the 30 year old to chill out, he understands why Darby chooses to continue taking the risks he does. Copeland also recognized that he himself was doing similar spots when he was young.
“So here’s the deal, I told him to chill out. I was like, I don’t be one of those guys like, ‘Back in my day.’ He goes, ‘Back in your day, you jumped face-first through a flaming table.’ I’m like, yeah, there’s that, right. So what can I say? I get it. He is distinctly his own thing. His own thing is really cool. Sometimes, you can’t try and stop that. It just has to happen. He’s just one of those guys. He’s gonna go climb Everest soon, and he’s never mountain-climbed before. Who does that? Well, Darby does. I realized, oh, that’s just it. If there’s a slogan I need for him, it’s ‘Oh, Darby does.’ I love that about him.” said Copeland
At AEW Full Gear tonight, Copeland and Allin will team with the legendary Sting to take on the trio of The Patriarchy (Christian, Luchasauras and Nick Wayne) with Ric Flair in their corner.
Elsewhere in the same interview, Copeland noted that he does not have an ultimate goal with his run in All Elite Wrestling. You can read more here.
